Project: Aquarian dawn

Aquarian Dawn -- The Main House

Aquarian Dawn -- The Main House

Aquarian Dawn -- The Main House

Aquarian Dawn launched as a Baltimore intentional community in 2025. The project is housed in a 100+ year-old end-unit row house a couple of blocks north of Baltimore's beautiful and historic Patterson Park on East Fayette St. The three-bedroom, three bathroom pad features an open first floor plan and a two-car garage at the back. This house was extensively renovated over the past decade, including exterior flourishes that give the townhouse a classic 19th century vibe. Its teal door welcomes visitors with a promise of the Aquarian ideals within. In late 2025, a second building across the alley was added as Aquarian Dawn 2 (see below).

Re-envisioning of the space for Project Aquarian Dawn (aka the PAD) is underway. There will be a variety of aqua colors in the space. The living room pictured here is the main social space of the house.

The Nantucket bedroom

The primary bedroom, the Nantucket Room, faces the front of the house. It is a sun-lit room with recessed lights, closets, and a private in-suite bathroom.

The primary bath

The Nantucket Room features a private bathroom with a spacious two-headed shower.

The back bedroom

Another fine bedroom is situated to the rear of the house. This room has a large closet and a semi-private full bathroom just outside the door in the hallway.

The lower floor features the "Aquarian Ballroom," two connected rooms with a bathroom and laundry facilities.

Behind the Scenes

Behind the PAD is a two-car garage, unheard of for a townhouse in this part of town. One is super rare but two... makes for a social and creative space as well as a parking lot. An expanded deck over the garage is in he works.

Stay tuned! Coming soon, Aquarian Dawn will feature the first rooftop deck on its block.

The Pocket park

An exciting bonus of the Aquarian Dawn property: There is an adjacent "pocket park" the city created by narrowing the dead-end street to the side of the house. Actually two parks, one on each side of the street. Aquarian Dawn residents "adopt" the park and patrol it for trash. It is nice to look out the side windows of the house and see  greenery!

Aquarian Dawn 2 -- The expansion

Aquarian Dawn 2 is located across an alley from Aquarian Dawn with a Pulaski Highway address. The two-bedroom, one bathroom townhouse has a small backyard and is across the street from the Ellsworth Park extension. AD2 is a casual, relaxed and welcoming space distinguished by its bright yellow "dawn" door.

Inside AD2

Opening the shiny yellow door of AD2, a visitor is welcomed by walls custom painted by Will Brewster Thackeray to evoke the 1970s-era theme colors of Air Jamaica.

The main bedroom in Aquarian Dawn 2 continues the use of Caicos Teal paint for a welcoming, Aquarian vibe. This bedroom faces the street, while a corresponding back bedroom is down the hall.

The Aqua loo

The AD2 bathroom resonates in Caicos Teal and features a sunlight.

AD2 has a small back yard. Its use is TBD -- perhaps some gardening? Or an eventual hot tub? At the top left of this photo is the back of the Aquarian Dawn 1 garage.

Directly across from AD2 is a corner of Ellsworth Park, where locals enjoy walking their dogs and sitting on park benches. Although the house has a Pulaski Highway address (Pulaski is one of Baltimore's key thoroughfares), this section is a quiet one-way street with ample parking and little traffic. Next to the park is the Baltimore Bicycle Experience.

Like AD1, AD2 is a very quick walk to Patterson Park, which was founded in 1827. The pagoda is a star attraction of the 137-acre Park.
