My friend Carl bought this Vespa new in 2013. The Dragon Red classic has only 1,630 miles and is basically a new scooter! Always garaged and treasured. This is a special model, with a powerful 278 cc engine that keeps up with traffic on the roads and even highways. Virtually identical to a 2021 model, at 2/3 the price!
This Vespa was built in January, 2013, and purchased nine months later at La Moto in Arlington, Virginia. My friend Carl kept it parked in his garage next to his Alfa Romeo Spider. The GTS 300 Super is not your average Vespa; it's got a motorcycle-sized 278 cc engine with 21 horsepower that propels it to highway speeds (the manufacturer lists an 80 mph top speed). It is however far easier to maneuver in urban situations than a motorcycle, and it features a CVT transmission so there is no shifting, just acceleration.
The bike starts, runs, and rides absolutely as new. It shows just 1,630 miles. Two years ago (1/23/19) at 1,520 miles, Carl had the oil and filter changed and replaced the throttle body and ECU. Only 110 miles have been added since. New battery 9/18 -- starts well every time, even after sitting for a month.
This scooter includes a terrific color-matched lockable container on the back, big enough to fit your helmet and more.
List price new for this model was $6,199. A comparable 2021 Vespa GTS Super 300 would cost $7,199 (and as shown below -- white photo -- it looks exactly the same, minus the trunk).
